Plus my back isn't what it used to be and I find it much easier to hold a light weight rifle steady. The 795 is not a kid's rifle. It was never meant to be one. I certainly like the looks of real wood but most rifles with wooden stocks don't use walnut anymore. That includes Marlin and Ruger. And the rifles aren't plastic. Just the stocks.

Honestly, they quit making them back when Bill Clinton's Gun Ban went into effect and Marlin discontinued the 70...then reworked it so the old high-capacity magazines could not be used in the new 795.
